4INFO Announces Mobile Open Platform

4INFO has recently announced their Open Platform which enables developers, content providers, and individuals to utilize 4INFO short code and platforms to deliver mobile content and alerts services.

Using 4INFO’s web-based forms and tools, anyone can quickly and easily setup a keyword that triggers the retrieval of the appropriate data from a content feed on your existing web server. Users can receive your content by texting this keyword (eg ‘myservice’) or keyword + search term (eg ‘myservice chicago’) to 4INFO (44636).

4INFO then translates the SMS text message into a web application request, takes the result, and translates it back into SMS, allowing you to easily setup and maintain mobile distribution of your information and content.

4INFO provides the basics and then you can let your imagination run wild. If you’re skilled at designing web applications, then you can really push the limits! Some basic functionality:

  • Create your own keywords and grammar
  • Allow users to search by keyword shortcuts for information that you provide
  • Develop mobile time and event based alerts for public distribution
  • Set up as many different services as you want, each with their own keywords
  • Upload content to the 4INFO search platform (in development)
  • Create a menu system tree, with different types of feeds for different menu choices (in development)
  • Develop your own premium services, with automatic billing to a user’s mobile phone bill (in development)
  • Create a mobile storefront (available once premium services billing is available)
